Aiming to support the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities (MoIM), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Lebanese Elections Assistance Project (LEAP), funded by the European Union, established and facilitated the electoral hotline center at the premises of the ministry to receive calls from the Lebanese citizens be it voters, candidates, observers and polling officials.
In support to the MoIM’s Operations’ Room, 8 UNDP hotline operators provided the callers with support, information and clarifications during the pre-electoral period and throughout the electoral day. The center received a total of 173 calls, where 83% of them were general inquiries, 7% reported on missing items, 3% complains about irregularities and 7% were on security issues.
The vast majority of the calls were received from polling officials (91%) while the other calls were made by voters, candidates, observers or media.
